On Jan. 12, actress Leslie Charleson passed away. The longtime General Hospital actress died at 79 years old.
Charleson began her acting career on a soap opera in 1969 and began her longest-lasting role of Dr. Monica Quartermaine on the 62-season show General Hospital in 1977, continuing throughout the rest of her life.
Charleson’s passing was announced by General Hospital’s producer Frankie Valentini, expressing his deep sorrow and gratitude to Charleson on the show’s Instagram page.
Charleson’s character of Dr. Monica Quartermaine is one of the longest-running characters on the show and the love that Charleson’s costars and loved ones have been receiving from fans is overwhelming.
Beyond daytime television, Charleson made guest appearances on many shows including Friends, Dharma & Greg and The Rockford Files.
Charleson is survived by her loved ones, who, along with her fans and colleagues, mourn the loss of her talent.
