Chipotle answers the prayers of South Florida citizens
April 26, 2015
As awaited by millions of burrito bowl fans, the day has finally arrived – Chipotle now officially delivers.
As of April 23, 2015, the popular Mexican chain announced that it will be partnering with the San Francisco based delivery system, Postmates, to provide fresh and quality food directly to the consumer’s doorstep.
The service offered will have a $4.99 minimum and a $7.99 maximum, and is now available in 67 cities throughout the United States. Postmates has over 10,000 couriers to deliver food and other goods for those who have the app. Starbucks is rumored to be jumping on the Postmates delivery bandwagon at some point as well.
“I have a sharp passion for Chipotle,” said Chemistry teacher Dr. Yuria Sharp. “I can’t wait to order lunch and not stress about picking it up in time for class.”
Typically, the customers would have to pay a delivery fee depending how far the courier has to drive, but Chipotle deliberately waived the extra charge.
“In the event that I forget lunch, which happens to be quite often, I won’t need to worry about scavenging my friends and teachers for a decent and healthy meal,” sophomore Alexander Gazo said.
The company has even seen a 30 percent monthly growth factor since the initial announcement, leading the board to believe the introduction to delivery will be a grand success.
