Many spent this Valentine’s Day in style — whether sipping the many drink selections provided, eating chocolates at Fairchild or dancing to the music at Deering Estate, endless festivities helped celebrate the day of love.
On Feb.14, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens, located in Coral Gables, hosted the Garden D’Amore concert. It took place from 4:30-9:30 p.m. and offered food such as picnic selections, wine and chocolate pairings — a perfect date night for couples, or oneself, to dine and walk through the gardens.
Guitarist Matt DeSantis performed the evening tunes from 5:15 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.. Specializing in Latin guitar fusion, blues, rock and roll and hip hop, DeSantis created a perfect intimate ambiance for the night. The Rhythm Street Duo performed for the rest of the night, from 6:00- 7:15 p.m.. The duo consists of Bryant Del Toro and Ana Maria Yanquez, who brought life to the event, playing many genres such as folk, hip hop, pop, R&B and jazz, and those are only a glimpse into the many styles they perform.
Tickets began at $89 for lawn seating, $99 for chair seating, $209 for reserved lawn seating for two and $259 for a reserved table for two, with Fairchild members receiving a 10% discount. Along with an array of seating arrangements, there was also a mobile spa, offering three minutes of bliss and luxury. General admission for Deering’s event started at $60.
Other organizations, such as Deering Estate, hosted a similar event, called “Moonlight & Music.” The event occurred from 8-10 p.m. and featured a performance from Jazz and Soul artist Malina Soochan and her quartet. Soochan performed music by Adele, Frank Sinatra and Norah Jones.
Deering provided catering from Joanna’s Marketplace pickup for a romantic picnic. Delicious snacks and meals were also available from food trucks and businesses such as The Cask, Lobsta Rolls, Crepemaker and Coffee Vibes, there was also a bar. Proceeds from this event went towards the Deering Estate Foundation.
