After successfully securing the 270 electoral votes needed to win, the Associated Press has officially declared Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump, the winner of the 2024 Presidential Election making him the 47th president of the United States.
Trump is only the second president to win the presidency in two non-consecutive terms, winning the 45th and 47th terms, following Grover Cleveland, who served as the 22nd and 24th presidents. Trump is also the first person convicted of a felony to be elected president at 78 years old and the oldest to be elected to office.
Ohio Senator and Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance will be sworn in as the first millennial vice president.
Winning important swing states such as Georgia and Wisconsin enabled Trump and Vance to reach the 270-vote threshold needed to win the Electoral College.
The 60th Presidential Inauguration Ceremony is set to take place on Jan. 20, 2025, marking the transition of power to the newly elected president.
