On May 17, the Florida Panthers beat the Boston Bruins with a final score of 2-1 in their sixth game, making them the Eastern Conference Champions over the Bruins for the second consecutive season
Panthers’ defensive player Gustav Forsling scored the game-winning goal with less than two minutes left, allowing the team to advance to the next round. In doing so, Forsling became the first defensive player in the Panthers’s history to score a game-winning goal.
Within the game, many players assisted in leading the team to victory, including center Anton Lundell, who had a goal and an assist, and goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who made 22 saves.
The Panthers won the first round of the playoffs against the Bruins 4-2 and will next play the New York Rangers on May 22 to determine the Eastern Conference winner. The winner of that match will then go on to compete in the Stanley Cup Final on June 24.
