How To Make 2016 Great As An Introvert
February 8, 2016
From one introvert to another,
Being an introvert does not mean you can not enjoy anything. Here are a few suggestions that may help you embrace the real you.
1. Accept that you are an introvert. Being an introvert does not have to have a negative connotation to it. Do not give in to the pressure your extroverted friends put on you, like some general form of intimidation to be more outgoing and make friends when really, the introvert’s problem is not that they are afraid that no one will like them, but rather that people will like them.
2. Not to support the stereotype that all introverts do is read books and watch television, but start watching Curb Your Enthusiasm if you have not already. When you are at home and are looking for some time to unwind, relax, and just watch something relatable, here is a form of entertainment to do so. Express your frustrations vicariously through Larry David’s forwardness in uncomfortable events. Even if you do not want to give Curb Your Enthusiasm a chance, find another show that you can pass the time watching. Seinfeld is a perfect substitute to Curb Your Enthusiasm, seeing as they are both written by Larry David.
3. Say hi first. Yes, many introverts get irritated from people telling them to take more risks, but if you have that one stranger in your life that you just want to compliment the heck out of, go for it. The regret that comes with missing an opportunity is much worse than the fear of rejection.
4. Besides Curb Your Enthusiasm, invest your time in a hobby. Take advantage of the day to be productive and tune into your creative side. Join that arts and crafts class at Michael’s. Let your feels out using whatever your preferred media is, for example, writing; whether it be plays, poems, or music.
5. Keep your overthinking to a minimum. Do not take everything so seriously. Try to stop overthinking everything because it is not healthy and you could be spending your time on something better. No one noticed that you didn’t turn in that paper perfectly in the basket, you are fine.
6. Go somewhere new. Ask a tight pal to tag along and take the metro somewhere you have not visited before. A day pass only costs five dollars and there is no limit to where you can go.
7. You have heard it in every shape and form, but in the end, you just have to be yourself. Thrive in your introverted-ness. You are unstoppable, fam. There is no need to pressure yourself to be someone you’re not.
