Hurricane Helene roared through Florida just two weeks ago, causing devastation to Florida’s “Big Bend” region. With Hurricane Milton, Florida is on high alert for the upcoming destructive storm.
Milton, originally supposed to be a tropical storm, has intensified into a Category 5 hurricane in two days. With winds up to 160 mph, Hurricane Milton brings threats of evacuation for some Floridian counties.
On Oct. 6, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 54 counties in Florida, including Miami-Dade, to prepare for the life-threatening storm. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava declared that Miami-Dade is under flood watch for the entire week and has distributed sandbags across Miami-Dade.
