On Jan 15., both Israel and Hamas partially agreed to a deal that would create a ceasefire in Gaza. The deal’s first phase includes a pause on the war that has ravaged the region since the beginning of Oct. 2023. Phase one is expected to start as the weekend approaches with a duration of six weeks, which will consist of a ceasefire, withdrawal of both Israeli and Palestinian troops, a swap of hostages and a period for recovery in Gaza. The second and third phases of the plan are still in discussion with leaders and councils. Since the start of the war, the death toll has risen to over 40,000, with 100,000 injured and 300 captured.
