On Jan. 3, batches of court documents relating to billionaire Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring between 2002 and 2005 were released to the public, under U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska’s orders. The last expected batch was released on Jan. 9, revealing the names of over 150 people connected to Epstein’s sex trafficking ring. 4,553 pages were publicized, including allegations and names. Many names were previously revealed in other court documents and are widely known to have been involved with Epstein’s network.
The infamous financier was arrested on July 8, 2019, on multiple charges of sex trafficking minors. After his arrest, Epstein pleaded not guilty on both charges but was indicted of running a sex trafficking ring between 2002 and 2005 and sexually abusing young girls. In 2008, Epstein pleaded to two prostitution charges and registered as a sex offender to avoid a federal trial. When Epstein pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking charges, he was denied bail and stayed in jail until he committed suicide Aug. 10, 2019. Epstein’s death came a day after court documents were released.
