On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer at the age of 75 and is undergoing treatment.
Charles ascended the throne in Sept. of 2022 following his mother, Queen Elizabeth’s death.
Just 18 months into his reign as King, following the guidance of his doctors, he will have to take a break from public appearances such as visits and speeches. However, he will maintain his role as head of state, and Camilla, his wife, will continue her public duties.
Charles recently had a public health scare, with a hospital visit in regards to a benign prostate enlargement. During his visit, doctors had noticed something else. Tests were conducted and it was revealed that he has a form of cancer, but not of the prostate.
Buckingham Palace is yet to announce the type of cancer Charles was diagnosed with, but he is taking on regularly scheduled treatments.
