An E. Coli outbreak has been linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder burgers, which has led to up to 49 illnesses and one death.
The exact ingredient causing the sickness has not been found yet. However, the US Food and Drug Administration says that either the onions or the beef patties have been the main source of the bacteria that has caused dozens of people to get sick after eating them, but the investigation remains open.
E. Coli, usually a harmless bacteria, can be especially dangerous when it causes infections. Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Symptoms usually start three to four days after swallowing the bacteria.
The Center for Disease Control has added a list of certain states where McDonald’s removed onions and beef patties. Including states like Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming and some counties of Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
