During a 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins star quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, received a concussion. During the third quarter of the major American football “rivalry” game, Tagovailoa was hit by Damar Hamlin, a Bills safety, causing a concussion. As a result of this, many are telling Tagovailoa to retire, as this is not his first concussion. In his five seasons in the National Football League, Tagovailoa has received three total concussions, all within the past 24 months, spiking major concerns for his current health and his health in the far future.
The Dolphins head coach, Mike McDaniel, said Tagovailoa would receive “proper procedural evaluation” and “appropriate care,” to insure his health. This injury has caused uncertainty if Tagovailoa would return to play this season or if he might quit the sport. Many former NFL players and NFL-affiliated people are calling for his retirement, meanwhile McDaniel refuses to give his own opinion, saying it is not his place. Tagovailoa will meet with neurologists in the upcoming week to assess his health and future.
