As the new year kicks off, many artists and creators have implied that they will be releasing new music, television shows and movies in the coming year. An abundance of entertainment plans to come out, giving everyone something to look forward to. Below are just a few of the new releases coming out in 2020.

Over the course of the year, many artists plan on dropping new albums that have been in the works for awhile. For example, Migos released their last album, ‘Culture II,’ in 2018, giving the rappers two years to write and perfect the songs.
“Migos are one of my favorite artists and I cannot wait to hear their next album. Each song is always better than the one before and I feel like this album will altogether be better than their previous releases,” sophomore Adriano Guarino said.
People can expect at least a few of their favorite singers or bands to announce that they plan on making or releasing new music this year, no matter the genre the music falls under.

Recently, television series have not only been able to air on cable, but many franchises – such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and most recently Disney+ – have begun creating their own shows. Disney+ has been able to reboot or “repurpose” many of their old shows, such as “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.” In 2020, Disney has decided to revive the early-2000s T.V. series “Lizzie McGuire,” with the main characters grown up and living as adults.
“Because I grew up watching the original ‘Lizzie McGuire,’ I cannot wait to see what this show will be about and how the actors have changed,” said junior Sam Berlan.
On the other end of the spectrum, a show about notorious serial killer Ted Bundy is airing on Amazon Prime called “Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer.” This docu-series is unusual due to its female perspective of Bundy in the feminist 1970s. Some shows are continuing for another season while many others are coming out for the first time, allowing for people to stick to their favorites while also finding new ones.

“I already know that I will love ‘In the Heights’! This movie takes musical theatre into the film industry, which are two of my favorite things. I also love Lin Manuel Miranda and can’t wait to see what he will turn ‘In the Heights’ into,” freshman Ava Goldenberg.
