Throughout the years Apple has come up with the most technological devices of our generations such as the iTouch, iPhone and iPad. What most people don’t recognize is the fact that all the products run on the same operating system called iOS.

The lastest software update called iOS5 includes the newest features, such as notification center. Notification center allows you to check all of your notifications such as text messages, email, stocks, weather and much more. Also when you are in the lock screen with just one swipe you can get straight to that application. With notification center it won’t interrupt any application that is running but instead will now be an animation at the top of the screen.

“My favorite new feature is the notification center,” sophomore Anthony Romaguera said. “If I get a text message or any other notification it won’t interrupt what you’re doing.”

Another feature is the upgrade of the camera. Normally to get to the camera, the user would have to swipe through the lock screen and select the camera. Now users can double-click the home button and a small icon of the camera shows up on the lower right corner of the screen and when you click it you automatically will be directed to the camera application. Also users have the ability to take a picture with the volume-up button.

Although there are many new features the best upgrade in software would be Siri. With Siri the user can ask any question they want and the phone will understand your words and reply accurately with an answer. Siri can set reminders, play music, answer questions, and much more.

“I’m really enjoying Siri,” world history teacher Leonel Ruiz said. “For the first time ever I can talk to my phone and it actually talks to me.”
