On Thursday, September 24 the first official Panther Talks took place, adopting the title “Dress for Success.” Sponsored by DECA, an international association of marketing and business students, the event taught students in the Academy of Entrepreneurship the power of proper attire for a potential employment opportunities.
“It further incorporates business into our curriculum by granting our students the opportunity to interact and learn from top executives,” DECA sponsor Mrs. Elinor Arrabal said.
Zone operations manager of Men’s Wearhouse, Gina Lawson, mentored about dressing for the career one seeks. From knowing to dress for the amount of money one desires to make to knowing the proper length of one’s sleeve, Lawson emphasized the importance of personal appearance.
Lawson continued to touch upon the basics of a resume, the importance of first impressions, perfecting the art of the handshake and essential interviewing skills. The students not only walked away with a guide for essential interviewing skills, but also a new found knowledge in what the business world seeks in employees.
