Panthers on the Move: Palmetto Announces Five Posse Finalists
December 17, 2021
The Posse Foundation is a selective scholarship program that identifies, recruits and trains individuals with extraordinary leadership.
This year, Miami Palmetto Senior High has five finalists off to four different schools.
Established in 1989, the Posse Foundation serves to aid diverse and talented students in making community change by providing a full-tuition scholarship to a variety of schools across the United States. Posse’s Miami chapter, established in 2009, offers seven partner colleges for students: Davidson College, Franklin and Marshall College, Hamilton College, Mount Holyoke College, Pomona College and Syracuse University. The foundation selects 10 total students — a “Posse” — for each college.
Since its establishment, the Posse Foundation has selected more than 10,000 Scholars, and its partner colleges have awarded over $1.6 billion in scholarships, according to the Posse Foundation.
To become a finalist, potential Scholars must engage in a three-part “Dynamic Assessment Process,” a unique evaluation to pinpoint successful students who normal admissions officers may have missed. DAP runs from September through December; the process includes group and individual interviews, as well as writing entries, to determine finalists.
The Posse Foundation continues to support students during and after college. During students’ time in college, Posse representatives visit campus to meet with students on a biweekly basis. After graduation, the program connects Posse Scholars and alumni to professional development opportunities by partnering with influential companies and graduate schools.
Below are Palmetto’s five Posse Miami Scholars:

Gianna Hutton: Pomona College
Imani Mitchell: Hamilton College
Lily Rodriguez: Franklin and Marshall College

Congratulations, Panthers!
