Last season, the Panther football team beat every single team except for Southridge, completing one of their best seasons in years by finishing 9-2. The tempo for this team is undergoing a turnaround for the better and the players are expected to perform just as well if not better this upcoming season.

Under the leadership of coach Michael Manasco and the rest of the Panther coaching staff along with 10 new transfers to the team including one of the two starting quarterbacks Shemar Monroe the Panthers are looking forward to a successful season.

Coach Manasco, going into his fourth season as the head coach, expects nothing less than perfect from his players. Furthermore, Manasco saw a promising training camp which started earlier this year on July 31 which is where players come early to practice before the season starts.   

“This team has had a much better summer training camp than previous years and that’s what happens when you establish yourself as a program,” Manasco said.

The inspiration and determination throughout the team trickled down to all players. The goal as always is to make it to states but at the same time take it week by week. New panther quarterback Shemar Monroe is eager for the first game to prove himself as the new senior quarterback.

“The team this year is going to go 1-0 every week and eventually win the state championship,” Monroe said.

Rather than the other teams in the district and region, Monroe says that we are our only competition.

Despite the heightened talent on this season’s team, all of the players are expected to rise to the occasion and perform at top notch levels.

“You really don’t know what you have until adversity hits you,” Manasco said.
