Ever since elementary school, spirit weeks have been something everyone looks forward to. Whether it was crazy sock day, Disney character day or pajama day, the whole school always felt more alive and honestly, more fun. This year’s Senior Spirit Week at Miami Palmetto Senior High kept that tradition going.
MPSH started off the week on Monday with Senior Citizen Day, and was one of the funniest days. Many people around school dressed up like an old person, and some people even went all out and brought walkers and hair rollers. Walking through the halls that day felt like a nursing home in the best way possible.
Tuesday was Anything but a Backpack Day, and people got really creative. Everything from laundry baskets to bicycles were seen being dragged around. One friend group decided it would be cute to design red picnic baskets to fit the senior theme. It made getting to class a lot slower around the hallways, but much more entertaining.
On Wednesday, it was Senior Takeover Day, where seniors got to “take over” a teacher’s class for a period. Some people just gave fun lessons, but others transformed the entire vibe. One senior turned AP Statistics teacher Mrs. Moser’s class into his own. I was Coach and Security Guard Donnie Martin. Acting as him in every corner of MPSH made this day one I could not forget.
Finally, Thursday was Senior Spirit Day and the big Senior Pep Rally. Everyone showed up in red, our assigned class color. The energy was seriously unmatched. There were games and performances from both Variations and the cheer team. It was the perfect way to wrap everything up.
Senior Spirit Week was not just about dressing up or skipping homework, it was a chance to just enjoy laughing together one last time before graduation starts feeling real.
To the Class of 2025, we are almost there.
