On Sept. 15, shots were fired at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Fla. The Federal Bureau of Investigation have been investigating the recent shooting at Former President Donald Trump’s golf course while he was in attendance.
This incident came two months after a shooting at Trump’s rally on July 13, in which Trump was injured after speaking on stage and a bullet grazed his right ear.
The shooting is assumed to be an attempt to assassinate Trump.
Once the Secret Service had noticed a person with a rifle pointed toward Trump, they immediately opened fire at the suspect. Law Enforcement Officials have reported that the suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, is in custody, and a rifle has been recovered. An AR-15 or AK-47-style model gun was discovered at the scene of the incident.
Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden have both been briefed on the situation and will be updated on the investigative process. They have both stated that they are “relieved to know that he is safe,” according to the Associated Press.
Harris released a statement on X, stating that “violence has no place in America.”
Trump’s security stays on high alert with the upcoming election, and increasing surveillance given the second interaction with gun violence in the past two months.
The investigation is ongoing, with new updates consistently released.
