On Nov. 14, South Dade Senior High School band director Scott Michael Davis was arrested on charges of having sexual relations with one of his students since September.
Davis, the 47-year-old educator, was charged with sexual activity with a minor — a relationship that began last November after the student’s hospitalization following a mental health crisis from a previous relationship.
According to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Police arrest report, officers interviewed Davis in the band room where he provided “a full confession.” He was later transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Reports showed that Davis confessed to having driven to the minor’s home twice and picked him up to have encounters at an undisclosed location in Cutler Bay. Davis revealed details of the relationship, describing it as “romantic and physical,” according to police reports.
M-DCPS issued a statement Wednesday confirming Davis’ expulsion from his position, refraining from disclosing information regarding his employment history and salary.
