This past December, Mr. Weiner directed a half-hour presentation to recognize the excellence of a select number of Palmetto students, each making the Principal’s Honor Roll.
“You guys are the best and the brightest,” Weiner said to the 97 students awarded. “We want to recognize each of you for your excellence.”
Each student recognized had earned an academic grade of an A, an effort grade of 1, and a conduct grade of an A in all six of their classes.
Among them was senior Kristen Cope, a varsity volleyball player and Silver Knight nominee. When asked how she does it, Cope responded immediately.
“It takes a lot of time management,” Cope said. “I have to work around my schedule to succeed.”
The students were also quite diverse as a whole, something Weiner made sure to recognize. “African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Russian-Americans, and plenty of other people here,” Weiner said. “That’s the beauty of Palmetto High.”
