On Dec. 6, Time Magazine announced Taylor Swift as their Person of the Year. Swift and eight others were nominated for the award, but Swift won making her the first person in the arts to be awarded this honor.
This year, Swift broke records with her long-awaited Eras Tour. The tickets for the tour created an outrage against Ticketmaster, which prompted a Congress hearing on the ticket-selling platform. When it came time for the show, fans created enough seismic activity that would be equivalent to a 2.3 magnitude earthquake at her concert in Seattle.
Additionally, Swift would be the first living artist to have five of her albums in the Billboard Top 10. She would break Barbra Streisand’s record for most number-one albums with 13 albums at number one. Swift also holds the title of the most streamed female artist in Spotify and Apple Music history.
As of November, Swift became the first ever musician to become a billionaire from music alone.
