On Sunday night, at the 66th annual Grammy Awards Ceremony, as Taylor Swift accepted the award for “Best Pop Vocal Album,” she made a special announcement. Swift wanted to thank her fans for all her support by sharing the release of a new album.
The album, featuring 16 tracks and one bonus track on vinyl, cassette and CD called “The Manuscript,” is set to release on April 19, the acclaimed singer-songwriter announced. The genre of the album is yet to be announced, but Swifties are excited for it nonetheless.
Many were taken aback by this announcement, with fans and celebrities, such as Rachel Zegler, expecting her to release the re-recording of her sixth studio album, “Reputation.” Many signs were thought to have pointed to the announcement, such as her website shutting down just hours before the Grammys, and Swift arriving at the award show wearing a clock necklace set to midnight. Though they were wrong, the news of the new album was shocking to all.
Swift ended her night by becoming the first artist ever to win Album of the Year four times, walking home with two Grammys, but 14 in total.
Though it was not what Swifties first thought of when seeing her black and white outfit, “Reputation’s” signature colors, it was a night to remember as the arrival of the new album awaits.
