After countless rumors and intense speculation by players and fans over the past few days, Mike Vrabel, Head Coach of the National Football League’s Tennessee Titans, has been fired in a “difficult” decision by the Titans’ team owner Amy Adams Strunk on Tuesday.
After finishing 6-11 in their second losing season in a row, questions about the coach’s future on the team arose. This was only exacerbated with the head coach’s lack of media availability on locker clean-out day for the first time in Titans history.
Since then, statements were made by both players and the coach himself prior to the announcement. When questioned about his desire to stay on the team, Vrabel assured the media that he wanted to stay with the Titans organization.
The change surprised players such as Titans running back Derrick Henry, who told The Athletic that he was shocked by the decision. He called Vrabel a great coach, and expressed his belief that he would be hired by another team soon.
