On Oct. 2, Iran launched a series of missile strikes toward Israel, becoming Tehran’s largest-ever attack on the country. Since the Hamas terrorist attacks on Oct. 7, 2023, tensions among Middle-Eastern countries have escalated. Iran claims the air strikes came in response to Israel striking Lebanon, with intentions of targetting Iran-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah.
In recent weeks, Israel has shifted their efforts to striking Lebanon and Hezbollah, with strikes killing Hezbollah leader Hassran Nasrallah. Starting earlier on Oct. 1, the Israeli military began what it calls limited, localized and targeted ground raids against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
Currently, the Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon have killed more than 1,000 Lebanese people and displaced over one million others. The Hezbollah shelling on northern Israel has uprooted 60,000 Israelis.
With the Iranian strike on Israel, most of the 180 missiles were shot down, with few landing in central and southern Israel, causing limited damage. So far, no deaths have been reported.
