The beginning of school goes hand and hand with the beginning of an endless cycle of homework and studying. To increase productivity, students need to find a quiet place to do so. Below are five places that offer a tranquil setting and peaceful ambiance for students to get work done.
Brewing Buddha Cafe and Arthouse:
Located just a mile away from Miami Palmetto Senior High School (MPSH), students can study at the Brewing Buddha. The artisanal coffee shop offers both drinks and food at affordable prices. The Brewing Buddha offers a variety of teas and coffee; notable drinks include the rose matcha latte, peach sunrise tea and creme brulee latte. The cafe also offers study snacks such as avocado toast, nutella toast and cilantro avocado hummus. The cafe’s hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The Brewing Buddha’s peaceful setting makes it an ideal place for students to study.
Pinecrest Library:
The Pinecrest Library offers a quiet area for students to get work done. Only two miles east of MPSH — a six-minute car ride — students can easily access the library. The Pinecrest Library has many tables and desks for students to comfortably work. Additionally, students have fast internet access thanks to the free computers, along with an abundance of books that could aid in research. The library’s hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, and from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The library closes on Sundays and national holidays. Other libraries, such as the Palmetto Bay Branch Library and the Coral Reef Branch Library, offer the same amenities at different locations.
La Boulangerie:
This French and Latin-influenced bakery provides both food and drinks that give a taste of culture to its customers. Food options include a variety of croissants, homemade pasta and fresh salads. Drink options include artisanal coffee, iced tea and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Only one mile away from Palmetto, La Boulangerie’s location and delicious food make it an ideal place to get work done. The bakery’s hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Pinecrest Bakery:
The peaceful Pinecrest Bakery sells Cuban-inspired food. Despite its name, the bakery has locations in Pinecrest, Kendall and Cutler Bay, making it an easily accessible place for most students at Miami Palmetto Senior High School. The Pinecrest Bakery offers baked delicacies such as sweet or savory pastelitos, empanadas, croquetas, sandwiches and churros. Additionally, the bakery has a multitude of breakfast selections, which include items like tostadas and eggs. Drinks include a variety of coffee and tea. Open 24 hours a day, Pinecrest Bakery can satisfy cravings at any hour.
Pinecrest Cafe:
The Colombian-influenced Juan Valdez Cafe gives Latin-American culture to its customers. Right in the back of the Pinecrest Gardens entrance, the cafe’s close location to the school makes it especially convenient. The spacious cafe offers a quiet setting for students, providing a view of Pinecrest Gardens through its glass windows. The Colombian-inspired coffeehouse offers a variety of drinks and snacks; Drinks include hot coffee, fruit smoothies and milkshakes. Food options include croissants, muffins, almojabanas and empanadas. Open throughout the week after school from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., students can access the cafe easily.
