Dec. 8 was the final night of Swifties admiring Taylor Swift from a glitchy livestream, wishing they could be there in person. After almost two years and 149 shows, Taylor Swift performed her closing show in Vancouver, Canada.
The tour changed concert culture completely, and fans across the world saw Swift announce new albums, bring out surprise guests and mash-up her top hits every weekend.
The three-hour show consisted of Swift’s top hits from each “era,” or album she has released. Ranging from pop hits such as “Style” or “The Man,” to heartfelt ballads like “Tolerate It” and “Enchanted,” The Eras Tour had something for everyone.
The most anticipated section of the show, the acoustic section of the tour, was when Swift surprised the crowd with songs that were not officially on the setlist. For the past few months, Swift had managed to even blend some of her top hits, like “White Horse x Coney Island,” with surprise guest Sabrina Carpenter.
Sunday night, Swift performed mashups of “A Place in this World,” “New Romantics,” “Long Live,” “New Year’s Day” and “The Manuscript” as her final surprise songs for the tour.
The last show of the tour in Vancouver was nothing out of the ordinary. Fans speculated Swift would announce a new album or surprise the fans with something new. However, Swift treated this show like any other, and simply amazed the crowds with her sheer talent, without any extra bells and whistles.
Although fans are saddened to no longer have any shows to look forward to, The Eras Tour will have left a mark on pop culture and changed the course of concert history for years to come.
