In the middle of the hot and sunny Miami December lies a place with boughs of holly — Winter Wonderland. During the winter season, locals can now go to the ironically-named park to experience some of the holiday feelings many do not get to experience down in South Florida. But this wonderland is a place for family and friends to experience the joy of the Christmas spirit.
Before the opening of Winter Wonderland in Tropical Park, Santa’s Enchanted Forest was known as the annual winter attraction in Miami.
While Santa’s Enchanted Forest’s main audience was children, Winter Wonderland features more rides and more activities for teens.
Visitors believe Winter Wonderland is more fun and entertaining, in addition to having great photo opportunities for guests.
“At [Winter Wonderland] I got to take so many cute pictures and can’t wait to post them on Instagram and get all those likes you already know,” sophomore Ana Cabrera said.
Winter Wonderland completely transforms the well-known Tropical Park and turns into an amusement park filled with fake snow, rides, food, twinkling lights and holiday spirit.
“They have rides, they have little games; you can do little workshops with Santa; you can sit on Santa’s lap, and then there’s a lot of little stations to take pictures,” senior Samira Mohammad said.
Food is also a big part of why many people visit amusement parks. Along with featuring several family-friendly rides and activities, Winter Wonderland serves festive food and an array of cultural dishes.
“We had really nice arepas; their arepas are amazing,” senior Cynthia Ryes said.
