As the weather descends into relatively colder temperatures, it sounds worth it to embark on a look back at the previous month’s large music releases. The month of November capped off with a lot of albums from many different genres spanning a broad musical landscape.

On Nov. 20, 2020, Australian rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard released their sixteenth studio album entitled “K.G.” The album contains more of the usual fare from the psychedelic rock group, but experiments with Middle Eastern-inspired sounds to create a unique record.

On the same day as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Megan Thee Stallion released her debut album “Good News.” The album focuses largely on female empowerment, with singles such as “Body.”  With the opening track “Shots Fired,” the album also touches on the incident surrounding the allegations that fellow rapper Tory Lanez shot her in July 2020. 

A week later, on Nov. 27, 2020, Bad Bunny released his third solo studio album, “El Último Tour Del Mundo.” The album, which translates to “The Last World Tour,” focuses on how Bunny would imagine his final world tour, set in the year 2032. The album moves away from Bunny’s usual reggaeton sound to a more introspective and acoustic sound.

Miley Cyrus also released her latest album on Nov. 27, 2020. Entitled “Plastic Hearts,” it focuses on a more rock and pop sound, a contrast to her previous and more country-sounding album “Younger Now.” The rock album features many large names as guest vocalists, including Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks.

Finally, also on Nov. 27, 2020, The Smashing Pumpkins released their newest album. The American rock band’s eleventh album, “Cyr,” attempts to create a contemporary sound with the usage of synth-pop. The band released an animated series, written by its lead vocalist, Billy Corgan, alongside the album.
