The Winner Takes It All: Emmys 2022

Television’s biggest night: the 74th annual Emmy Awards, honoring some of the most recognized shows of the past year. Held on Sept.12, at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, CA,. “Saturday Night Live” Kenan Thompson hosted the show.
“I’m very excited to watch the Emmys. I personally love acting and watching TV,” Miami Palmetto Senior High sophomore and TV connoisseur, Peyton Byrd said.
Thompson opened the award show with a medley of TV theme songs-turned-remixes from shows, “The Brady Bunch,” “Stranger Things” and “Game of Thrones.”
“Ted Lasso” and “The White Lotus” brought home the most awards of the night. “The White Lotus” took the crown, winning nine other titles as well The show’s actors, Murray Barlett and Jennifer Coolidge, both won Best Supporting Actor/Actress in a Limited Series.
Zendaya won Outstanding Lead Actress for her role as Rue in “Euphoria” for the second time, becoming the youngest person to win an Emmy twice.
The ABC sitcom “Abbott Elementary” won three awards. Sheryl Lee Ralph, who plays Barbara Howard on the show, won for Best Supporting Actress. Creator Quinta Brunson won for Writing-Comedy Series.
Lee Jung-Jae from “Squid Game” won Best Actor in a Drama for his role, becoming the first person from South Korea to win the category. “Squid Game” was also nominated for Best Drama, but ended up losing to “Succession.”
“Succession” was the most nominated show in this year’s Emmys with 25 nominations, although the show ended up winning three awards including Best Drama.
Even though the show’s main focus is television, a significant aspect is the fashion on the runway.
“I love to see what all the celebrities bring to the table to wear and seeing some of my favorite ones on the internet,” Byrd said.
Vogue’s annual story on the Best Dressed at the Emmys featured Zendaya and “Squid Game’s” Hoyeon Jung at the top of the list.
The Emmys invite television’s biggest shows and stars to come together to honor each other.
