TPP #3: Anti-semitism or anti-Trumpism?
February 23, 2017
Here we are again, going over yet another accusation on President Trump; only now he is not a fascist but an anti-semite. This allegation arose after a wave of threats towards Jewish communities and buildings spread throughout the U.S. The count keeps climbing, with over 50 threats on 54 Jewish communities since the beginning of the year, according to the JCC Association of North America.
After Trump delayed his public denouncement of anti-semitism, many suggested that the President does not care about the issue and may be an anti-semite himself.
When you think about it by following that popular logic, it would seem ironic that he has such a good relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the early stages of his presidency. Claims of him being an anti-semite seem further questionable given the fact that his daughter Ivanka is Jewish, which he has claims to be proud of.
Surely, Mr. Trump was slow on calling out the hate going on in the last few months, but when he did, he did it firmly. I, too, wish he would have done it as soon as it before it became as bad as it is now, but who knows why he did not. I prefer not to jump to absurd conclusions and be satisfied with what he said during his visit to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. He made it clear that prejudice, racism or any such divisive force must end, clearing up the so-called confusion about his stance on the matter, as reporter Craig Melvin from MSNBC calls it. Even Melvin, in a later interview during which his spoke on his time with Trump at the museum, he said that President Trump did seem genuinely concerned about race issues and social division in the United States, and even spoke of taking steps against it with Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, Senator Tim Scott and others.
Therefore, who are we to believe here, the journalist from the generally viewed as left-wing news station who has personally spoken to President Trump or a bunch of reporters who hate from outside the club?
