On Tuesday, Dec. 10, University of California Davis announced that it will be joining the Mountain West Conference, beginning on July 1, 2026. UC Davis was previously in the Big Sky Conference, on the FCS level. When they begin participating in the Mountain West, all sponsored-sports will be included, except for football.
The Mountain West currently has Air Force, Boise State, Colorado College, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawai’i, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, University Nevada Las Vegas, Utah State and Wyoming.
The Aggies have various sports, such as baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s outdoor track & field, men’s and women’s water polo, women’s field hockey, women’s equestrian, women’s gymnastics, women’s lacrosse, softball, women’s indoor track & field, women’s swimming & diving and women’s volleyball. All these sports will officially begin conference play in the Mountain West in 2026.
UC Davis’ Chancellor Gary S. May told The Sun that the university is thrilled to have joined the Mountain West Conference.
