Since 2022, the Russia-Ukraine conflict has raged on and escalated significantly. After almost three years since Russia invaded Ukraine, a series of unfortunate events have occurred that have led to the current state of the country.
A few days ago, there was a new addition to the ongoing war. North Koreans have disguised themselves as Russians and have joined them in their fight against Ukraine. For some time now, North Korea has provided Russia with missiles to use against Ukraine. Now, they provided their own men to carry along the war and stand side-by-side with the Russian soldiers. North Korea plans to supply just enough troops to replace the losses in Ukraine.
North Korea sent Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of Russia, as their troops train to fight together. Hui stated that she would stand by Russia until it prevails in Ukraine. She accused South Korea and the United States of planning a nuclear attack on North Korea. While North Korea has supported Russia, South Korea is waiting to see what happens so they can make their next move in support of Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, have solidified ties after signing a pact in June, which included a pledge of mutual defense. This means that whenever either country is in trouble or in need of extra defense, the other must come in support. Recently, when Russia was losing too many troops, the pact came in handy.
Nearly eight thousand troops have entered Russia and are near Ukraine’s border, preparing to contribute to the fight. They are soon to be the first outside country to enter the war, which could cause a domino effect with other supporters. There has been aid on both sides and the future of both countries is in the hands of their allies. The war will remain ongoing and only time will tell what direction it heads in.
