As the lights dim and silence spreads, the crowds of people who have anxiously waited three years for “Dune: Part Two” feel the presence of another groundbreaking movie come to life. A nearly three-hour-long, action-packed Sci-Fi film first hit the theaters on March 1, where fans finally got to return to the “Dune” universe.
Some of the standout actors that many teens today recognize in this movie include Austin Butler, Timotheé Chalamet, Zendaya and Florence Pugh. They captured the essence of their characters with such ease that one could feel their power emitting through the screen. In particular, Austin Butler, who plays Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, a ruthless and psychotic character, took the role of a standout supporting character in the movie. His incredibly ominous makeup and outstanding acting performance perfectly translated into his character on screen.
One critique I had for the first movie was the use of Zendaya as a promotional prop, as she was only shown in the movie for a couple of minutes. “Dune: Part Two” did not make this mistake, as Zendaya was showcased throughout a large portion of the movie, making her another character that wowed audiences. Zendaya’s character, Chani, brings light to a rather dark film, as her character encompasses the central heart of the franchise. In addition, Timotheé Chalamet who plays the protagonist, Paul Atreides, follows up his incredible performance from the first “Dune” movie with an even greater performance in Part Two. Chalamet and Zendaya’s incredible chemistry is one of the many aspects that transformed this movie into such an outstanding piece of art.
A big part of this film, as seen in many Sci-fi films, is the inclusion of computer-generated Images. One aspect of the CGI in the film was the Sandworms, which played a significant role in the “Dune” franchise. I felt like a little kid again watching the final battle scene with the sandworms as I witnessed some of the coolest CGI in film history. With the incredible soundtrack and creative CGI, this movie has everything that makes a great Sci-Fi film. Incorporating such advanced technology and outstanding performances from brilliant actors truly made this film feel magical.
