If one was raised in South Florida, they would most likely be acquainted with the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition, also known as the Youth Fair. The fair is located at Tamiami Park and features its usual amenities: carnival food, rides and exhibits that often show art made by kids from schools in the Miami area.
“I think the youth fair is a great place for the community. It’s a great place for people to come together, especially kids our age [teens]. It has a lot of nice rides and food,” Miami Palmetto Senior High junior Arianna Sanz said.
The Youth Fair has rides for younger kids in a specific area called “Kiddieland,” with ride options such as the Bumble Bee Bop, Charlie Chopper, etc.
“I have a little brother and every year we go to Kiddieland and he absolutely loves it. I think it’s because obviously he sees me and my friends and we go out and do all the crazy rides, and he feels left out since he’s a short kid. But at Kiddieland, he gets the same experience and likes it really,” junior Gabriela Sosa said.
This fair has been around for years, becoming a key part of Miami Culture. People are excited during the fair season, which is typically during spring and lasts 21 days. This is also perfect for people who come to Miami for spring break looking for fun and lively events.
“I think the fair is a perfect place for spring break because a lot of tourists are coming from different places. The beach is going to be an environment that may be dangerous during these times and me personally, I love spending time with people my age. The fair is also safe, there’s security everywhere, and it’s also pretty affordable and aesthetically pleasing,” junior Daniela Gomez said.
One can get general admission for $12 or an unlimited pass for $30 online or at the door.
